COFFEE STORAGE TIPS:

ALWAYS...
  • Store coffee in a clean dry, odourless environment.
  • Store coffee in a cool environment
  • Rotate stock of coffee regularly and pack new supplies separately from old supplies, keep a close watch on the date of roasting.
  • Use the recommended serving of coffee to water depending on the size of the brewing machine. This has been designed to give the best possible taste.
  • Clean all utensils (percolator, urn etc.) thoroughly after each use, using a thin long brush and boiling water. Add small quantities of boiling water to urn and rinse until it runs clean.
  • For urns/percolators, remove clean-out cap at end of coffee faucet and scrub pipe leading to the centre of the urn.
  • Replace or wash coffee filters after each use
  • Serve coffee as quickly as possible after brewing. Always brew just enough coffee to use within three hours after brewing.
  • Use clean, cold water to begin brewing the coffee. If coffee is too strong add boiling water.

NEVER...
  • Store coffee beside foreign odours eg. curry powder, pimento, spices.
  • Store coffee beside a boiler, motor or in direct sunlight
  • Pack all supplies of coffee together or use recent stock before older stock
  • Use more than the recommended serving; the coffee will be too strong and bitter. Using less will make the coffee too weak and watery
  • Use any type of detergent or scouring powder as this can affect the taste of the coffee
  • Allow clean-out cap to clog or become dirty
  • Allow coffee filter to become dirty
  • Allow coffee to sit on a warmer for long periods and 'burn'. Coffee should never be reheated as this produces the worst possible taste
  • Use water with any impurities to brew coffee. This will affect the taste
